UNC-Chapel Hill Writing Center: the "Student Resources" section includes "handouts [that] can help you at every stage of the writing process, from brainstorming to proofreading."

Purdue Online Writing Lab: An extremely rich online resource for writers at all levels. Students in English courses might find especially helpful their "MLA Formatting and Style Guide."
